The three volumes belonged to the author Enoch Arnold Bennett, better known as Arnold Bennett. His bookplate is inside the cover. His plate has his initials superimposed over a figure of Athena, with her owl. The inscription on the ffep. of volume one, confirms his identity. The books are bound in half-calf w/ decorative stamping, raised bands, and gilt lettering. The remainder of the cover is marbled paper, as are the endpapers. Each volume is in Fine condition, with pristine interiors. The covers show slight wear, but the bindings are tight and the volumes are clean and bright. This edition is edited by Charles Knight. A rare find.
